Getting Your Benefit

When it comes to planning for retirement, many people worry about where the money is coming from — whether from their FRS retirement plan, spouse's retirement plan, Social Security, personal savings, real estate, or from other investments. Just as critical to where the money is coming from is when and how you receive it. These factors can have a dramatic effect on whether you'll have enough to fund a comfortable retirement. Just as with your FRS plan, you'll need to consider:

  • When you leave FRS employment
  • When you receive your retirement benefit
  • How you receive your retirement benefit

When Will You Leave FRS Employment?

Click on any of the three stages on the timeline below for an overview of what to consider when leaving at that stage, along with the payout options available to you for both the FRS Investment Plan and the FRS Pension Plan.
